Indianapolis native. 30 years old. I’ve had many jobs. Presidential campaign staffer, assistant manager of some jewelry boutiques, business English teacher in Ecuador, e-comm merchandiser, office manager — those were the good ones.
(The worst? Probably my brief, ill-advised stint at age 22 as the evening supervisor at an alternative sentencing facility for non-violent female felons with preschool aged children. Not convicted of a violent crime, anyway. I found the job on Craigslist. Hey, it was the recession.)
I’ve been writing my whole life and have been flirting with the idea of doing so professionally for the same amount of time. I’m making writing a priority again. I expect this will be a mix of formal and informal writing. I’ll also put some older pieces on here. I used to put my writing on Tumblr, but I am an Old Millennial and never liked that format. So, back to the blog. Almost as fun as Livejournal in 2001!
I think about things from a sociological angle. I’ve tried out for Jeopardy! in person. I’ve held hands with Bill Clinton and made Barack Obama laugh. I wish I’d studied something different in college. I have a David Bowie saint candle, a piece of coal from the Titanic, and a ton of vintage clothes. I’m a redhead, which for us is a bigger part of our identity than you might imagine. There are a lot of labels I could list here, but perhaps they’ll come up in my writing instead.
I know that I used “I” a lot here but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
